“As a water resource professional or student in the State of Nevada, it is important to be a member of the Nevada Water Resources Association and to attend the annual conference. The NWRA provides a forum for water resource management and investigative science to come together to share and discuss advances and/or new approaches for management of our limited resource. It also provides a venue for our future professionals (students) to share their research and contributions while developing contacts and relationships with potential future employers.”
LinkedIn Workshop where students listened to a presentation about how to set up LinkedIn accounts and also get headshots taken with a professional photographer!

“NWRA provides students and young professionals with abundant opportunities to grow and create a network of connections. The professional relationships I’ve established are extremely valuable as I begin my career in Nevada water resources." Lydia Peri, Past Student Member (now professional member)
“Active attendance at the NWRA annual conference has helped me see the different professions and organizations involved with water resources in Nevada and surrounding states. As a student looking to start a career in this sector, seeing the variety of professions in water resources industry has given me a better picture of what options I have to start with, and where I could go as my career advances. There are not very many opportunities a student has to see a snapshot of the entire spectrum of a potential career field, and thus the conference has provided me a lot of opportunities to evaluate what goals I have as a current/future water professional.”
“I have found many people I have met to be very approachable and very willing to help students. Also take advantage of as many NWRA opportunities as you can. They are exceptional and these types of chances will not come around as often when you are not a student.” Brian Anderson, Past Student Member (now professional member)
Members from UNLV AWWA and UNLV TBTT met at the Clark County Wetlands Park to go on a hike through the park and talk about the importance of the Las Vegas Wash to our water supply.
“Nevada is a unique state due to the robustness of its water law and its arid climate. The professionals with NWRA are at the forefront of their industry. There is so much to be learned no matter where you may end up when you are finished with your degree. Take advantage of the connections and opportunities that NWRA can provide, it is one of the greatest benefits of being at a hydro program in Nevada.” Brian Anderson, Past Student Member (now professional member)

“As a student member of the Board of Trustees and later the Student Coordinator I spent a lot of time working with the Board and NWRA staff to find ways to help bring the next generation of water professionals together with the wide range of experts and members at all NWRA events. As a professional Hydrologist and current Board member, I continue to help NWRA focus and bring the best experience to students and networking opportunities not only for the students but the members and professionals that will be hiring or working with these people in the years to come.”
